Preheat Air Fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 400ºF and spray the air fryer basket with a non-stick cooking spray. Spraying the basket will ensure your sweet potato fries don’t stick to the air fryer.

Chop Sweet Potato

Using a sharp knife, chop the sweet potato into fries on a cutting board, about ¼-inch thick. We found this thickness allows for perfectly cooked fries that are crispy on the outside. Should I peel my sweet potato? The option is yours. We prefer to leave the skin on, but peeling Is definitely an option.  Should I soak my sweet potato fries first? We have found that soaking is not necessary and just adds an additional step to this process.

Season Sweet Potato Fries

Place the sweet potato fries into a bowl and drizzle them with olive oil. Sprinkle on seasoned salt, garlic powder, and cornmeal. Toss until the sweet potato fries are evenly coated in the spices and cornmeal.

Air Fry

Cook the sweet potato fries in two batches (depending on the size of your air fryer). Spread half the sweet potato fries in the bottom of the air fryer basket. Be sure the sweet potato fries are in a single layer and not overcrowded in the basket. If you have a larger air fryer, you may be able to cook more than half of the batch at once!

Flip & Fry Again

Cook the sweet potato fries for 4 minutes at 400ºF, then flip the fries, and cook for an additional 5 minutes or until the fries are golden brown.

Time Variations

All air fryers are different. So, just make sure you watch your fries until you get a hang of the cook time. If you plan on cutting your sweet potatoes into large chunks (ie: into sweet potato wedges), you’ll need to increase the time to compensate for the larger chunks.

Repeat

Repeat, repeat, repeat until all of the sweet potato fries are cooked.

Serve & Enjoy

Serve with ketchup or your dip of choice and ENJOY.

Cutting Sweet Potato Fries

There are so many different ways you can cut a sweet potato fry. Some prefer wedges while others like shoestring fries. We cut these fries into a traditional french fry cut — 1/4 inch thick rectangle fries. Sweet Potato Fries in the Oven Why this size? We found that the 1/4 inch thickness allows them to cook perfectly in the air fryer while also crisping up on the outside. What about the skin? You can either leave the skin-on (our preference) or you can peel it before slicing your fries.

Seasoning Variations

One great thing about sweet potato fries is that you can season them so many different ways! Sub in 1:1 any of the following seasoning blends for the Lawry’s season salt and garlic powder:
